Embracing Change: A Reflection on Choices, Values, and Behaviors

Last month, we shared that we decided to make a move — a choice we hadn’t planned on, but one that we had envisioned for our future. As we reflect on all the changes since March, we’re definitely exhausted…but we’re also truly grateful and happy!

For us, embracing change isn’t just about making big decisions; it’s about staying true to our core values — focusing on what matters most, creating a home that supports the life we want to live, and being open to new possibilities even when they feel a little uncomfortable. Our behaviors — from how we prepared for the move to how we adapted along the way — made all the difference in helping us turn this transition into an opportunity for growth and joy.

Of course, one major piece of this journey was securing a mortgage. Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer, a seasoned homeowner, or thinking about refinancing, chances are you’ll need a mortgage too. For many, especially first-time buyers, the process can feel overwhelming.

This month, we wanted to share some helpful tips to make it a little easier and help you feel more confident right from the start:

💡 Mortgage Tips for a Smoother Process

  • Start with a qualified mortgage professional. Before you even begin house hunting, get pre-approved. It gives you a clear understanding of what you can afford and makes your offer stronger when you find the perfect home.
  • Understand the types. From fixed-rate to adjustable-rate mortgages, knowing the differences can help you choose what’s best for your situation and future goals.
  • Consider all costs. Be sure to factor in taxes, insurance, and maintenance when planning your budget.

It’s so important to connect with a trusted mortgage professional before starting your home search. And if you’d like a referral to a lender we know and trust — or have any real estate questions at all — we’d be happy to help.

Our theme this year is embracing change, and this experience has reminded us that our choices, values, and daily behaviors shape how we move through big transitions. While moving is a lot of work (after our move we’ll NEVER tell you otherwise!), the reward can be more fulfilling than you ever imagined when you stay grounded in what matters most to you.

Sincerely,
Wade and Annette
