Keeping track of what we plant in our yards doesn’t have to be complicated — but it can make each season better than the last.
We (Annette mainly) like to keep a simple flower journal to remember what we’ve planted, where we found it, and what worked. This is especially helpful with annuals; some thrive, some don’t, and it’s nice to have a record instead of guessing the next year.
We also love adding photos of our favorite window boxes and planters. It gives us a visual to go back to when something really turns out well. And we keep a page for ideas, whether that’s inspiration photos or quick notes for future projects around the yard.
We wouldn’t call ourselves expert gardeners, but we do know what we love: fresh bouquets. That’s why we focus on perennials that make great cut flowers like hydrangeas, black-eyed Susans, and daisies, while mixing in a few annuals each year like lisianthus or even trying something new like ranunculus.
At the end of the day, it’s not about perfection — it’s about enjoying the process and creating something we can enjoy both outside and in our homes.
